Man City Legend Pablo Zabaleta and the Premier League Trophy visit Cityzens Giving Young Leaders in Mexico City to rejoice launch of expanded Xylem Water Heroes Academy

Mexico City, Mexico, September 22, 2022 – Manchester City’s world charity initiative, Cityzens Giving, and Official Water Technology Partner, Xylem, are delighted to announce the growth of Xylem Water Heroes Academy, a worldwide initiative in ten cities utilizing the ability of soccer to tackle native water challenges.
Since its launch in 2021, Xylem Water Heroes Academy has engaged over 75 younger leaders and delivered important water schooling to greater than 6,000 younger folks in five cities: São Paulo, Mumbai, Cape Town, New York City and Shanghai. The expanded network, which now also includes youth-led projects in Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Cape Coast, Kuala Lumpur and Melbourne, goals to positively influence 20,000 extra younger folks over the following 4 years.

As part of the activity in the nation, Young Leaders, Xylem staff and fans from Manchester City’s Official Supporters Club in Mexico City also joined forces to repaint the El Coyolito pitch and create a water-themed mural.
In addition, City within the Community coaches delivered coaching to forty Young Leaders in Mexico City, sharing expertise and information in leadership, group soccer and WASH. This was followed by a three-day digital Summit, connecting Young Leaders and Xylem specialists from all ten cities to share ideas on tackling water challenges through football.
“Climate change continues to threaten water availability in communities throughout the globe,” mentioned Austin Alexander, Vice President, Sustainability and Social Impact at Xylem. “Xylem Water Heroes Academy harnesses the ability of football and younger leaders to address these water challenges and make our communities extra resilient.”
Valeria, a Young Leader with love.fútbol said: “We want all the youngsters right here to be aware that responsible water consumption is essential, and they should deal with it. We received coaching from Man City coaches and learnt a number of video games that train children about water conservation via football. We are really happy and grateful that Man City and Pablo Zabaleta visited our neighborhood.”
Later this season, City followers could have a chance to learn extra about the 5 new Water Heroes Academy projects and vote for his or her favorite young water heroes.
